New website

Well in an effort to try to get more work I have created a new website as well as updateing my existing Swift Building Design website. Who knows whether or not this will generate any more work but seeing as it is hosted by google and built with google's website builder I am hoping it may get up there in the old google search rankings. I am sure I should be doing more to optimize the site but these are early days in this old dogs campaign to learn how to be a webmaster.

Personally I'd rather be a Jedi Master but that's just at the weekends and doesn't pay the bills.....

The Inn at Whitewell

Sue and I decided to go for a drive round the Trough of Bowland and we called in at the Inn at Whitewell. We have called in for drinks before and really like the place but this time we decided to stop over. We checked availability and there was one cancellation so it was fate! Our spur of the moment decision did require a not so romantic trip to Somerfield at Longridge for some basic toiletries (hairspray) but after that we settled in for some great food and some relaxing drinks.

Despite the weather we decided to go for a walk the following day and we got drenched but thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the views.

Venice

The missus and I got back from our 6 nights in Venice late on Saturday. We had a lovely time although somewhat smelly at times. Big note to self though - try to avoid flying with Lufthansa as they seemed to take everybody's names for the flight, stick them in a hat and jumble them all up. Strangely though another Lufthansa flight crew who were also flying with us managed to get seats all together - funny that!

Oh and one other thing, we couldn't quite appreciate just how beautiful Venice can be as most of the feature buildings were covered in scaffolding :-(

NEW BLOG AND LANDSCAPING

I think there has only been one visitor other than myself to my incredibly popular blog so I wont bother explaining why I have changed the thing and my three previous posts to it have now been lost in the ether forever.

Well today has been a major leap forward in the landscaping of my garden with 50 tons of topsoil arriving to be spread and a tree surgeon abseiling through the canopies thinning out trees and removing a couple of oaks completely. Don't panic tree huggers I did indeed obtain permission to remove the trees as they were diseased and over hanging next doors bungalow. Besides with their removal the healthier oak that they sandwiched should now be able to thrive without competition for light.

Well that's what I hope has happened anyway!
